Waterborne roof coatings

Elastomeric roofing coatings are fluid and formulated products that are applied on a sloped roof surface using spray or roller and can form a continuous protective film on the substrate after evaporation of existing water. These coatings can be used both for repairs to previously waterproofed roof structures and for newly built buildings, especially for the protection of polyurethane foams used for roofs.
The white roof insulation consists of polymer dispersion, various types of fillers, pigments and a small amount of additive to achieve stability and reach the desired viscosity. The coating is applied on a clean substrate, in two or more layers, and forms a continuous film during drying. The polymer component binds the material in a way that after drying, a uniform and flexible film is produced to resist subjective variations due to the different periods of weathering in the night-time. Choosing the type of dispersion used is very important for this application. Since the geographic location of the buildings is different, the glass transition temperature should be less than the minimum temperature of that geographic area; therefore, the coating remains flexible when exposed to cold weather conditions and does not crack under tensions.
